“The Three Noble Themes” class led by Rev. Jon Turner. Sunday, August 10, from 1:00-3:00 p.m.
The Buddha taught from the time he was awakened at age 35 until he realized nirvana prior to his death at age 80. Over these 45 years, the Buddha taught in many different areas, languages and to many different types of audiences with varying questions and concerns. These teachings have been painstakingly cataloged and categorized, containing over 500,000 lines. The breadth and depth of his teachings are vast and often seem contradictory. This course will attempt to draw three main themes out of the Buddhist canon. It is these Three Noble Themes that run throughout the Buddha’s teachings and will help give them context and a cohesive message. Here is the flyer/registration form.
